The pistol may not be the most glorious of the 3 guns, but you can’t win a 3 gun match unless you’re good with it. The pistol is the most used of the 3 guns, and is usually the slowest of the 3 for the casual shooter just getting into 3 Gun.
Typically the reason most shooters are slow with their pistol is because people are used to going to the range and shooting and most ranges have rules against rapid fire... It's a little difficult to show up to a 3 Gun competition and shoot fast if you've never previously been allowed to shoot fast previously. However, after getting a few 3 Gun competitions under your belt, rapid shooting (especially double taps) will be like second nature to you.
There are alot of factors that go into becoming a top notch 3 Gun pistol shooter.
